There's not one that I know of yet, actually! Then again, I don't know a lot of Pokemon, so maybe one exists? I hope so, that would be the best practice.

It feels a lot more like riding a horse, but I think riding a bird would get you used to flying. Even though it's the greatest thing ever, it can be a little scary to start out with.
